#AbaFashionWeek: Ikpeazu's Govt will support your ideas if they are scalable and sellable [Opinion]

...My takeaway from Aba Fashion Week

 Written by Blessing Ogonna Gabriel

It is an unarguable fact that Aba Fashion Week is one of the best things to have happened to Aba in recent times. I've never seen a first edition of an event gain the kind of traction AFW amassed.

I'm not sure of whose idea it was to organize the show, but it is obvious Toskyme fashion house played key role in driving the vision.

I logged on to my facebook this morning and the first post I saw was from DG ASMQMA Sam Hart. He shared a memory of his first meeting with two major players in October 2020, when the idea was still on paper. The idea was delivered two months later in collaboration with the Abia state government.

Funding events of that magnitude, with the likes of Atafo, Noble and Chike in attendance is no mean feat. Governor Okezie Ikpeazu continues make do his promise of supporting and funding scalable and sellable ideas geared towards SME development.

This is not the first and certainly won't be the last. He has given financial aid to businesses including some of the popular fashion brands in Abia, sponsored the participation of SMEs in Made-In-Nigeria Trade fair, sponsored the training of Artisans both at home and abroad. The One-day Governor, teen reality shows, sports competition etc., had his financial signature stamped on them.

So, the next time you have a proposal, weigh it. If it passes the scalability test and you can convince the next person to buy it, be rest assured of Governor Ikpeazu's undiluted support.

Kudos to DG Sam Hart. I would have been disappointed if AFW didn't turn out the way it did. Your capacity to deliver has never being in doubt.

I can only hope that other Agencies of Government will allow God use them too😁

By the way, the photographer did a fantastic job. The street fashion was lit.
