According to him, “the people of the state had expressed their willingness to give their mandate to our party judging by the results we had in the last general elections. We won Presidential election, out of three senatorial seats, the people gave us two and three House of Representatives seats.

“We are  going to win and reclaim Ondo State in the coming gubernatorial election in October. We are doing everything humanly possible to recover Ondo State back by working together.

The people of Ondo State want PDP back to manage the affairs of the state.”

He explained that PDP is working assiduously to ensure that out of the 17-man officio, six women must emerge. This he said was in line with the plan to give 35 percent of slots to women.

The outgoing state Chairman of the party, Engr. Clement Faboyede said: “Our party is very, very prepared for the election.

I am impressed with what I am seeing. Everybody agreed to nominate who to serve them. No molestation, no shooting. Everything went well.

“I stepped down in order to put a formidable exco in place, and I am not contesting for governorship now.”

He disclosed that there are 17 governorship aspirants on the platform of the party, but moves are being made to reduce the number of aspirants to barest minimum to allow for smooth primary or emergence of a consensus candidate for the party.

Faboyede disclosed that a Screening and Advisory Committee has been set up with Senator Bode Olajumoke as the head to look into how to bring all the aspirants together so as to get the best candidate the party would present to the people of the state.

He said in order for the party to have strong and best candidate, the party would not zone the governorship slot.
