Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu's death is Shocking - Abia Assembly Speaker

The Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, has described as sad, painful and unfortunate, the death of former Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly and Senator who represented Okigwe Zone in the Senate, Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu.
The Speaker said this on Tuesday in his office while receiving the National Service of Songs and Tribute Committee for Late Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu who died on the 18th December 2019.
Speaking during the visit, Chairman of the Committee, Rev Dr Chucks Alozie, said the committee was at the Office of the Speaker to personally pay respect to the Speaker and brief him on the burial plans of the Late Senator.
"Our Purpose is to pay our respect to you, and the person we are talking about is more or less an Umuahia man who served as Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly.
"The National Committee of Late Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu considered that as the number three citizen of Abia State, it was necessary to pay you this visit.
"There is no way we can execute this burial arrangement without your support. We are aware and appreciate the support you have given us at the National Burial Committee.
"We felt it will not be complete without your physical, financial and political participation", the Chairman concluded.
Responding, the Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Chinedum Enyinnaya Orji, said the death of Late Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu was an unfortunate incident.
"There was no sign that he was sick; you can imagine the shock when news broke that he was dead. When I heard the news, I felt it was a politically motivated rumor.
"That type of death for someone who had conquered many political fights is really pathetic and unfortunate.
"At the end of the day, we can't question God.
"The only thing I have learnt from the death of Late Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu is that its good to have genuine friends.
"It is also good to play this game of politics with a little bit of passion and self control because nobody knows what will happen the next day.
"In a bid to frustrate Ben, people forgot that he had a fragile health, people continued to pile pressure on him until his health failed.
"What happened to Senator Benjamin Uwajumogu should be a lesson to everybody because seeing someone healthy and by tomorrow you are told he is dead calls for serious reflection by all", he empathized.
The Speaker also said the Late Senator helped to develop Umuahia more than those who profess to own the city.
He went ahead to commiserate with the family of the Late Senator while praying God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
