Abia: All you need to know about 2019 FG planting season launch

Flag off of 2019 Planting season is a call to further step up support to Farmers and Agro-preneurs to create millions of jobs along the Agricultural value chain with cash, exports, free crops , Livestock production, Mechanization of Agriculture as well as processing activities.


The programme is being run through the Bank of Agriculture that acts as a lending center where farmers can easily access financial services. The bank has sited a branch in Umuahia which will be commissioned by the Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezue Ikpeazu who also played a big role towards making sure the project succeeds in Abia State.
Acting MD of the BOA, an Abia Son, Professor G.O.C Okenwa explained that Abia State was chosen as the center for the programme in the entire Southeast considering how strategic the State is in the SouthEast and how successful such programmes have been handled in Abia with Dr. Ikpeazu on the saddle.


Abia is the second state in the country to host the launch of the National farming Season after it was successfully held last year in Kano State.


All this, is in line with the vision of the Governor of Abia State Dr.Okezie Ikpeazu who leverages on every opportunity to empower Abians and create more jobs for our teeming youths.


Abia is the only state in the country to have fully keyed into the accelerated agricultural development program of the Central Bank of Nigeria. 


The programme has Abia Governor in attendance, Deputy Governor of Imo State and representatives from Enugu, Ebonyi and others.
