Last week Friday, the Abia State Commissioner for Information John Okiyi Kalu and myself visited Golden Guinea Breweries Plc and shared the news of the imminent reopening of the Brewery.

The story understandably went viral and elicited mixed reactions. While genuine lovers of development welcomed the news for the prospects it represented for jobs and general development of the economy of Umuahia and Abia State, others chose to play politics with it and a dangerous one at that.

The people, who's stock in trade it is to sabotage any effort that will directly or remotely bring credit to the administration of Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu are relentless. They have gone to great lengths to change the narrative and some of their moves have caused discomfort and corporate embarrassment to the Management of Golden Guinea Breweries Plc.

We have seen the statement issued by Golden Guinea clarifying their resumption schedule and we have no problem with it. They are our beloved partners in development and we are working hand in hand with them.
Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu is not given to glory seeking. He does not bother about credits. He just does what needs to be done as long as odinma Ndi Abia is the end-game.

We hold the Management of Golden Guinea Breweries Plc in high esteem and commend them unequivocally for their efforts in ensuring the revival of our darling company.

We wish to state categorically that we are on the same page with the Management of Golden Guinea Breweries Plc and we stand with them.

To this end, all supporters of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu and indeed, lovers of development, should as a matter of strategy, sheath their swords and desist from engaging in acrimonious exchanges with enemies of development regarding Golden Guinea. We have no point to prove. We are not dragging credit with anybody.

Golden Guinea Breweries Plc will resume production shortly and Abia will be the better for it. That is the issue. That is our story. That is our position. Kindly allow those who want to wallow in bitterness to do their thing.

Do not allow them to drag you into their mud. They will have home advantage and you cannot win. There is no winning with them. Once you engage them in their language, they have won. When you fight with a mad man, how can passers-by tell who the mad man is?

Once again, we call on supporters of the Governor to cease all online exchanges regarding Golden Guinea. Let us not inadvertently hurt the good thing happening for us.
