Abia election tribunal gets 32 petitions

About 32 petitions have so far been filed at the Abia State election petition tribunal challenging the results of the various elections conducted in the State on February 23 and March 9, 2019.

Four of the petitions are challenging the declaration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as the winner of the March 9 election. The petitions were from Alex Otti of the All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA and Uche Ogah of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The others were from Kelechi Ogbonna and the candidate of Action Peoples Party. 

A further breakdown of the petitions showed that 13 of the petitions are challenging the results of the national assembly, senate and House of Representatives, while 15 are challenging the outcome of the House of Assembly election.

Prominent  among them is the one filed by Senator Mao Ohuabunwa challenging the declaration of former Abia State Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu as the winner of the Abia North Senatorial seat.
