Another Liberian has died in Lagos.

Kate, a Liberian woman who lives at Bankole Street, Isheri-Oke in Lagos, was found dead yesterday in a black sweater and an orange skirt under a pear tree.

According to our findings, the woman before her death had been looking sickly and pale, even though she did not appear to be having any problem with anyone in the community, and had not visited any hospital to report an ailment.

Neighbours in the area were speculating that her death may be connected with the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) which was imported into the country by fellow Liberian, Patrick Sawyer. They believe frustration from the jibe of some people in the area and those who avoided her must have had a strong hand in her suicide.

“She always looked sick, so people stopped selling to her after the Ebola outbreak. It could be because she was Liberian and looked sickly. This might have frustrated her, we used to see her every day, she lives in this neighbourhood” said a resident who did not want his name in print.

Information gathered from some landlords, who were members of the Isheri Oke Community Development Association confirmed that the incident has been reported to the Isheri Police Division.

Calls put through to the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide went unanswered. Until her death, Kate was working in a sachet water factory.

It is to be recalled that Patrick Sawyer, a Liberian, was the one who brought Ebola into Nigeria when he came into the country with the disease in late August.
