The President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo, John Nwodo has expressed dismay over the spate of hate speeches on social media platforms by Igbo youths under the guise of agitating for Biafra.

Nwodo stated this during the inauguration of the newly elected officials of Abia State Chapter of the pan Igbo socio-cultural organization in Umuahia.
Nwodo frowned and condemned inciting speeches made by some Igbos especially the youths and noted that it was capable of hitting up the polity.
He called for respect for constituted authority.

The Ohaneze Ndigbo President General recalled sad and unforgettable experience of the Nigerian/Biafra war, noting that no nation has ever survived two wars.

Nwodo revealed that there are about 11.6 million Igbos living in various parts of the north and advised that their safety must be considered while engaging in certain activities.

He called on Igbo youths to desist from activities and comments capable of sparking violence in parts of the country.

He said :"there are 11.6 million Igbo people living in the North and it will be wise for Igbo people living in the South-East and elsewhere to put them into consideration while speaking or engaging in certain activities.
"I urged Igbo youths to desist from activities and making of comments  that could spark violence in the nation. At the moment what  Igbo people need to fight for is restructuring of  the nation."
"Ohanaeze is in an era of transparency. I assure you that we have not relented in speaking for the Igbo people, especially in the area of restructuring for the benefit of Igbo people."

Governor Ikpeazu said the event points to the fact that the Igbo people are unanimous in their decision of repositioning for greater prosperity and development.

Ikpeazu enjoined Ndi-Igbo to respect their leaders and support them for political and economic restructuring of the nation.
