Senator Theodore Orji has said former House of Reps member; Hon. Stanley Ohajuruka has made himself a laughing stock by comparing his unmemorable/dull time at the National Assembly with his (Orji’s) phenomenal and eventful representation.

Ohajuruka, a former speaker while addressing reporters in Umuahia had accused the former governor of not doing anything to impact on the lives of his people since he got to the Senate.

Senator Orji in his reply said Ohajuruka should have first and foremost appraised his 12 years stay at both Abia State House of Assembly the low chambers of the National Assembly between 1999 to 2011 with the achievements of his successors to understand how big a failure and inconsequential he is before trying to give respiration to his used up political career.

This is contained in a press statement signed by his Senior Media Adviser, Don Norman Obinna in Umuahia on Monday while reacting to a statement credited to the ex-speaker of Abia State House of Assembly wherein he described Sen. Orji as Senator in exile and was quoted to have said that he has not given his constituents effective representation.

The immediate past governor of Abia State who said that his response was not to join issues with Ohajuruka but to refresh his fading memory said only a man suffering from Schizophrenia as a result of solitude and dejection would displayed such heinous ignorance in public adding that the statement became completely foolish when there were no records of any bill sponsored by Ohajuruka either as ABSH or NASS member.

“All well informed Nigerians except Ohajuruka were aware that in less than 365 days at the NASS, Sen. Orji not only introduced annual scholarship scheme that will produced 240 graduates but also sponsored eight unique bills - the famous and well celebrated Food Se¬curity Bill, 2015 (2nd Read¬ing), with the objective to compel government to pro¬vide quality food as part of its primary responsibilities, the Nigerian Invest¬ment Promotion Council Act Cap N 117 2004 Repeal and Reenactment Bill (1st Read¬ing), with the objective to further encourage, promote and co-ordinate investment in the Nigerian economy-

“Others are the National Planning Process Bill 2015, SB.73 (1st Read¬ing); and Deep Offshore and Inland Basin Production Sharing Contracts Act CAP PD3 LFN 2004 (Amend¬ment), Bill 2015 (SB – 11 9) (2nd Reading), the Nigerian Biodiversity Bill 2015 (SB 79), (1st Reading); Constitu-tion of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (Alteration), Portfolio Designation Bill 2015 (1st Reading), Deoxy¬ribonucleic Acid (DNA), Bill 2015 (SB 78), (1st Reading); and a bill for an Act to Establish a Centre for Diseases Control and other Related Matters (1st Reading),” the statement reads. Sen. Orji further said considering Ohajuruka’s present state of mind which has been obfuscated by solitude he must be patiently explained to that apart from performing his legislative oversights effectively and diligently, he has also empowered youths, artisans, entrepreneurs, farmers and the physically challenged with the donation of 25 wheelchairs, 25 grinding machines, 25 sewing machines, 20 2.5 KVA generating sets, seven tricycles, 25 motorcycles, two buses and 200 liquid fertilizers with spree cans to over 329 less privileges including farmers in less than one year of his representation.

“In addition to these, Sen. Orji ensured the employment of six Abia central youths at the federal level as well as catered to the well-being of widows, indigents and the elderly with several relief materials including food and shelter. “We are not surprised that Ohajuruka who is mostly remembered by his political instability and prostitution which has seen him joined almost all the political parties in Nigeria - PDP, PPA, ACN, LP, APC – rather than his landmark achievements opted for the best strategy of resurrecting his dead political career by criticizing Sen. Orji, after all he is a news maker. Any politicians from Abia State who has lost relevance and craved to be heard with a publishable news story must have Sen. Orji’s name mentioned.

“Against his so called 63 projects which only exist in his mind, Ohajuruka should note that as a result of Sen. Orji’s responsive/qualitative representation, the Federal Government through FERMA has requested for expression of interest for constituency service for the maintenance/repairs of critical failed sections, along Umuahia-Ariam, Ikot-Ekpene road in Abia central senatorial district – Ikwuano Local Government Area just to mention but few,” the statement added.
