The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) has declared that the perceived or visible shortage of petrol in some parts of the country was only a ripple effect of the period when oil workers strike was in progress and did not in any way represent a shortage in fuel supply.

The corporation stated this in a statement signed by its Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Garba Mohammed, maintaining that members of the public should desist from engaging in panic buying.

Mohammed also informed the general public that the strike action embarked upon by oil workers under the auspices of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria has been called off since the 12th of this month.

He reiterated that members of the public should not engage in panic buying as there is no shortage of petrol.
