Abia State House Of Assembly Begins Screning Of Commissioner Nominees

Abia State House of Assembly today began the screening of Commissioner Nominees sent to it by the State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu.
 
The screening of the nominees began with Chief Uzo Azubuike, a former member of federal House of Representatives and a two time member of the state house of Assembly, from Isiala Ngwa North. He was asked to take a bow, after a brief introduction.

Eziuche Ubani, from Obingwa who is also a former federal lawmaker was also asked to take a bow following legislative procedures.  Osita Igbe was next from Isukwuato also took a bow.
Then came the former Deputy Chief of Staff, Charles Ogbonnaya, from Umuahia North who was asked to assess Abia at 23 having been part of governance. in response, Chief Ogbonnaya said Abia needs to improve its economy though cocoa production and other agricultural products, and also answered questions on poor road networks and construction.
He also decried a situation where local governments are given huge allocations with nothing to show for it. Obinna Oriaku, from Isiala Ngwa South also answered questions on loan management, Internally Generated Revenue and Local Government System.
 
Hagler Okorie from Bende Local Government answerd questions on how to revamp the educational sector, environment and sports.
Others screened today are, Chinedu Brown, Nnenna Obewu, Uche Ihediwa, and John Ahukanna.
 
The Deputy Speaker of the House, Cosmos Ndukwe described the proceedings as thorough and in line with the constitution, adding that the house was in for serious business.
 
A total of 10 Commissioner Nominees were screened today. The exercise will continue tomorrow
