Super Eagles Chief Coach Sunday Oliseh has defended his 17-man list of foreign based players, stating that he will take responsibility if the team fails to get a favourable result in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Tanzania on September 6.

Addressing newsmen in Abuja, Oliseh who was accompanied by his assistants insisted that he selected the team based on a lot of factors including current form and expected individual contributions to the qualification of the country for the continental fiesta.

"Well it is not you that will take responsibility if anything happens, I will, but I don't know about understanding or not understanding the list. The list is there but I think it is the coaching crew that will decide who is going to play, we can make the list and send it out to the whole of Nigeria and say look send in your own vote, it is not a reality show, it is a football game.

Personally as far as we are concerned we have worked very hard to put this list together and let me say that everybody is a Nigerian, nobody has a preferential treatment, if you're invited you play." Also speaking about the goal keeping area, goalkeepers trainer, Aloy Agu said the goalkeepers invited including team captain, Vincent Enyeama all have the experience to give a good account of themselves during the match.

On the need to invite younger goalkeepers to understudy Enyeama who has given his retirement signal, Agu said; "if you look at the list, Akpeyi is there, we cannot bring everybody in at the same time, it is one after the other and at this moment in time, we also need experience because when you want to build a solid future you also need experience for people to understudy, Karl is doing well and at this point in time we need people that are doing well so that we can get the result we are looking for. In as much as we want young goalkeepers to come in, we also need to tap from the wealth of experience of the older keepers."
