Nigerian navy Begins Conference on Waterways Security

As part of efforts to maintain the waterways in Nigeria, the Nigeria navy have concluded plans to host this year’s off- shore patrol vessel(OPV) conference.
 
Chief staff officer, western naval command, IBE ENWO, who revealed this, told newsmen that the conference holding in Abuja from august the 20th would be attended by 20 countries.
 
He explained that the conference which was organized in partnership with Messrs International Quality Productivity Centre was aimed at improving maritime security in Africa, especially in the Gulf of Guinea region.
 
The participants will focus on anti piracy operations, coastal surveillance systems, cost effective OPV, naval system acquisition and international best practices in OPV operations.
