Abia House of Assembly candidates sign Peace Accord

To continue in its quest to uphold peace and order in the state, before, during and after the elections, the Abia State House of Assembly candidates on Friday March 6, signed a Peace Accord at the Police Officers Mess, Umuahia.

The pact was organised by the Umuahia Area Command.
At the signing, the Commissioner of Police,Abia State,Joshak Habila, who described the pact as a replication of the ones signed by the Presidential, Gubernatorial and House of Assembly candidates, noted that it anchors on peace and stability of the nation.
CP Habila, reminded the candidates of the electoral laws,adding that the signing of the accord was an open declaration of the candidates to commit to the peace and stability of not just the state but the nation at large.

As expected the content of the pact which dated March 6, 2015 was read out by the Officer in Charge of the legal department of the force, Barrister Esther Nwosu.

First, it was the signing by serving members of the State House of Assembly, followed by the candidates. They were also given time to voice their opinions, while they were charged to play according to the rules.

The signing was attended by candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party, the All Progressives Congress, All Progressives Grand Alliance, United Peoples Party, National Conscience Party and Labour Party.
