The Chairman,Senate Committee on Appropriation, Sen. Ahmed Maccido says the Senate might pass the 2015 budget in the next two weeks, insisting that the nation is not broke despite the fall in oil price.

He explained that the red chamber of the National Assembly pegged the crude oil benchmark at $52 per barrel as against $65 per barrel owing to realistic parameter to execute the 2015 budget.

Maccido noted that at the pre budget meetings with the executive, the National Assembly was more concerned with the completion of ongoing capital projects.

It will be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan had in the reviewed Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy submitted to both chambers of the National Assembly in December 2014,pegged oil price at $65 per barrel for the 2015 budget.
