The Afriff 2014 started in a good note with the Cross Rivers First lady, Obioma Liyel Imoke and Hi-Chieh Edem Duke (Minister of Culture and Tourism) opening the festival with powerful speeches respectively.

The First Lady in her remark reminded her guest that Calabar remains the destination to be, live and work in Nigeria. She welcomes everyone who intends to make Calabar their residence. And with the second hosting of Africa International Film Festival, Afriff 2014, Calabar has become the meeting point of Africans filmmakers.

The opening night screened movie, “The Square” daunted and challenged the filmmakers on theatre the night to up their games; become more revolution minded and ensure that their works bring advancement and development to Africa.

Afriff 2014 is witnessing larger turnout of renowned filmmakers and superstars. Nollywood’s most admired comic actor, Nkem Owoh joined the Afriff 2014 party on the second day of the festival. And Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen whose film, “Invasion 1897” will be screened during the festival came in too.
