Ukraine: FG sends chartered flights to evacuate Nigerians from Romania, Poland and Hungary

Federal Government of Nigeria has on Wednesday, March 2 sent chartered flights to evacuate Nigerians that fled from Ukraine to Romania, Poland, Slovakia and Hungary.

 

The latest development comes 6 days after Russia launched a large-scale attack on Ukraine.

 

A statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs says a chartered Max Air Flight would pick up 560 Nigerians from Romania, an AirPeace flight will pick up 364 persons from Poland, 360 persons from Hungary and 150 others from Slovakia.

The permanent Secretary of the ministry, Ambassador Gabriel Aduda in the statement said:

"Furtherance to our efforts to evacuate Nigerians from the neighboring countries surrounding Ukraine, we can confirm that Chattered flights will depart on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 to pick up Nigerian evacuees back home.

 

"So far, we have the following records of evacuees received by Nigerian embassies at: Hungary (650 persons), Poland (350 persons), Romania (940 persons) and Slovakia (150 persons)."
