Our attention has been drawn to rumors making the rounds that the state government is levying traders at Ariaria International Market the sum of Four Thousand Naira (N4,000) each for provision of electricity.

We wish to state categorically that Abia State Government did not authorize or approve the collection of any such levy.
Members of the public are advised to forward specific reports on any such demands to the undersigned,  the Honourable Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chairman of the Board of Internal Revenue, and/or the nearest police station.
Security agents are hereby directed to arrest and prosecute those involved in the collection of this and such other illegal levies in the name of the state government.

Abia State Government is resolutely committed to the growth and prosperity of our hardworking traders. We will continue to do the needful to ensure that our Micro, Small and Medium Scale Enterprises (MSME) grow, prosper and support the job creation agenda of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu-led administration.
Thank you.
