BREAKING: Police arrests two billboard vandals in Umuahia

Abia state police command has arrested two suspected billboard and poster vandals at the Isi gate area of the state capital, Umuahia.


The suspects, Francis Agwu and Awoh Ikechi, who were arrested while vandalizing PDP billboards and posters confessed that they were sponsored by an opposition politician in the state. 


Meanwhile the General Manager of Abia State Signage Agency, Chief Gan Alozie, has called on politicians wishing to erect billboards or post bills in the state to ensure that they obtain permission from the agency after paying relevant fees. He decried the indiscriminate pasting of posters along road divides and street beautification structures and called on those wishing to post bills to visit ABSAA offices for appropriate guidance.


Chief Alozie also warned politicians against employing thugs to destroy their opponents campaign materials as according to him only ABSAA has the statutory power to remove illegal and unauthorized advert materials.


Abia state signage has with this development placed curfew on erection or placing of any material on outdoor signages between the time of 8am to 6pm accompanied with staffs of the agency for guidiance.Any body caught violating  this order will be sanctioned according to signage laws.
