The formal handing over of East Street and Clifford Primary Schools Aba to Assembly of God Church, Aba District was part of government efforts to involve the private sector in providing quality education in the state.

Performing the hand over ceremony at Government House, Umuahia, the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu said that the hand over was in fulfillment of earlier promise to return the remaining schools to them and appreciated them for the able way they have been handling schools so far returned to them.

Governor Ikpeazu however expressed dissatisfaction over the way some schools handed over to some missionary are been handled.

According to him, government would no longer hand over schools to missionary or proprietors who cannot manage the schools handed over to them appropriately.

Represented by his deputy Sir, Ude Oko Chukwu congratulated the Assembly of God church, Aba District for meeting the criteria for the hand over and reiterated government commitment to continue to partner with Assembly of God church and other missionary schools that are committed to ensure the improvement of the standard of education in the state.

He further stated that the state government investment in the education sector has continued to yield fruits with Abia maintaining the first position in the examinations conducted by WAEC and NECO.

Responding on behalf of the Assembly of God church, Aba District. Rev. Dr. Ogba Onyeije commended the present administration on what they are doing in the state especially in Aba

Rev. Dr. Onyeije thanked the state governor for returning the schools to them and assured that they would help in taking education in the state to another height.
