Ikpeazu applauds achievement in Educational sector

Abia State Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu says his plan is to build a state with necessary skills and manpower that will attract industries and development. 
Governor Ikpeazu who stated this during the maiden matriculation ceremony of Dr. Uma Ukpai Polytechnic, Asaga Ohafia, said with the foundation already laid, Abia in the nearest future will be a leading state that has created enabling eco-system to support industrialization. 
“I’m happy that our effort in education is not in vain. In less than three years of our administration, three tertiary institutions have been established in our dear state with Dr. Uma Ukpai Polytechnic as the latest.
“Our plan is to build a state with the necessary skills and manpower that will attract industries and development," he said.
The Governor also commended the renowned Evangelist, Rev. Uma Ukpai for the Giant step in establishing a tertiary institution in the state.
“Let me also thank Rev. Ukpai for responding to our call and plea to our people to bring their investment to the state, because we know that when our people invest at home, it will attract investors from outside the state to come also,” he said.
He expressed joy that all he prayed for the education sector has come to fruition, noting that three tertiary institutions have been established in the state within three years of his administration. He further pointed out that his quest for quality education, coupled with huge investment in the sector has made Abia retain first position back to back for three consecutive years in WASC examinations.
Governor Ikpeazu while challenging the matriculants to see the ceremony as the signing of contract for their future, noted that the greatest need of the world is the need of people with imagination and creativity. 
He also charged the matriculating students to be committed in their studies and tap from the blessings deposit in the institution which has its foundation on God and pleaded with the Founder and President of the Institution, Rev. Dr. Uma Ukpai to always make himself available to enable the students tap from his wealth of knowledge. 
In his remarks, the Founder cum visitor to the institution, the Rev Dr. Uma Ukpai said his relationship with the administration of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has been robust and rewarding, urging the matriculants to make God their cornerstone. 
Earlier, the commissioner for education, Prof. Ikechi Mgbeoji said the Governor's commitment to make Abia students self -reliant upon graduation led to the introduction of the Education for Employment programme. He also thanked God for using Dr. Uma Ukpai as an instrument for the development of mankind. 
A total of 95 students participated in the maiden matriculation ceremony.
