Buhari should be concerned about what happens in APC – Orji Kalu

Former Governor of Abia state, Dr. Orji Uzor Kalu has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of not being political in his dealings with the All Progressives Congress(APC).

Kalu insisted that the office of the President of Nigeria is political and as such. The occupant must be political and should be able to dictate what happens in the party and not allowing the party chairman run the party at will.

The former Governor said this during his appearance on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics.

“He is the President and Commander in Chief of this country, he must be interested in what happens in his party. He must also be interested in who leaves the party. It costs nothing to stop the movement, to say ‘ look we offended you here we are sorry’. He has nothing to lose if he does that,” Kalu said.

Amid speculations whether the President would declare his intention for a re-election, Kalu insisted that it was irrelevant.

He said that former presidents before his administration all re-contested elections, adding that Buhari’s case would not be an exception.

He said: “Whether he declares or not, it is immaterial. All I know is that APC will have a lot of candidates in 2019 and President Buhari will be running for re-election.

“He has to run; he is the President of Nigeria and he is healthy, what will stop him not to run? He is a capable man, so he will be running with the other candidates who want to run in the APC.”
