Sports: Abia govt partners Chioma Ajunwa Foundation to groom Athletes

Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state on Monday, says the state will partner with Chioma Ajunwa Foundation to promote sports in the state.

The Governor gave this assurance yesterday when the officials of the Foundation paid him a courtesy visit at the Governor's Lodge, Umuahia.

Accordinga statement released by ikpeazu’s media aide, Onyebuchi Ememanka, the delegation was led by Nigeria's sole individual gold medal winner at the Olympic Games, Chioma Ajunwa.

Ajunwa, told the Governor that she set up the foundation as a way of helping groom young athletes especially in the area of track and field sports.

Governor Ikpeazu described her as a pride to Nigeria and thanked her for remembering to give back to the country through her foundation, even as he assured that the State Government through the Ministry of Sports will work closely with the foundation to fish for young talents in sports who will be supported to grow.

Henry Amike, the national record holder in 400m hurdles was also part of the delegation
