As criticisms begin to mount against Abia government from opposition parties in readiness for the coming 2015 general elections, a group of youths from the state has bounced to his defence.

The group, under the name: “Ochendo Grassroots Solidarity Movement (OGSM)”, called on indigenes of the State, both at home and abroad, to work for peaceful transition in governance in the state come 2015.

Under the bigger Ochendo Youth Foundation (OYF), the OGSM made the call during their zonal quarterly prayer summit held in Aba tagged: “That the Almighty God will continue to sustain Abia State on the path of security / prosperity and grant her a peaceful election come 2015”.

Godwin Ogbonna founder and State Coordinator of the organization said the reason for their gathering was to pray and support Governor of the state for a peaceful transition, and to pray for all Abia leaders instead of condemning them.

The prayer summit which he said has lasted for 8 years has been the source of sustenance and hope for them as there was nothing one could achieve without prayers.

The women wing coordinator of the Organization, Nwada Peace Ezeigbo while speaking to Factnews urged the people to focus on the good things the government of Theodore Orji has done in the state rather spending unnecessary time on none profitable criticisms.

Simeon Nnaji, the vice Chairman Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Aba South, during his preaching emphasised on the importance of prayers.  Quoting from the Bible, he said prayers should always be made for leaders at all levels for God’s guidance and protection as they (the leaders) were also humans and therefore bound to make mistakes like everyone else.

Some of the executives who spoke to Factnews crew expressed joy and satisfaction over the performance of the Governor in what they called foundation laying governance. He explained that until their Governor assumed office that there were no infrastructures like Government secretariat; roads; specialist hospitals; as well as School blocks.

They contended that modern schools have been built across the state under the incumbent governor, with markets relocated to better sites. He went on to mention many other things he described as the governor’s legacy projects, which the state never dreamed of having till now, like E-library in and so on.

But not all that came for the meeting was in agreement with leaders. Some who spoke off camera said; as long as roads in Aba, the state commercial capital, remain death traps that the government remained a failed one. They say their reason of joining the prayer was for God to give Aba and Abia State a messiah come 2015.
