Eagles Rise To 50th Place In FIFA Rankings

The Super Eagles has continued their impressive rise in the FIFA world rankings as they moved up 10 places from 60th spot to 50th in the latest rankings released on Thursday.

They are joint 50th with Burkina Faso who also enjoyed a massive improvement, moving up 17 places. Nigeria's points haul also improved from 562 to 616 this month. 
The Eagles' brilliant rise in the rankings is not unconnected to their recent impressive results in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers following wins against Zambia (2-1) and Algeria (3-1).
On the continent, the Eagles are currently sixth (joint with Burkina Faso) after being out of the top 10 for a long time.
Cameroon, who are the Eagles next opponent in the World Cup qualifiers, dropped six places from 59th to 65th position.
Senegal remains Africa's number one team and 33rd in the world.
 Argentina maintained the number one spot in the world with Brazil moving one spot to second.
The falconets of Nigeria are at logger-heads with the football federation as a result of un -paid wages.
The falconets had just returned from the U-20 female world cup held in New Guinea.
The Nigerian team did not make out of their group and made a hasty exit from the competition.
The team had refused to depart their serob hotel quarters without their wages.
The general Secretary of the football house mohammed Sanusi denied the allegations claiming that the federation was not owing the girls.
 In Champions League results across Europe, Leicester city and Arsenal are the teams that have made it to the round of 16. 
The biggest upset of the competition was the defeat of Bayern Munich by Fc Rostov of Russia. 
The Russian team had already been eliminated from the competition but gave themselves a consolation win by defeating  Bayern by 3-2.
The trio of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Athletico have also made it to knockout stage.
In Europa league matches, Schalke Fc will be playing host to Nice of France.
Jose Mourinho’s Man Utd will be up against Feyenoord while Genk Fc will slug it out with Rapid Wien.
