Abia State Government Empowers School Inspectors

To ensure proper inspection of schools in the state especially in the rural areas, the Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has empowered the state ministry of Education with 40 brand new motor cycles, with a charge to ensure that they are well utilized.

Speaking at a formal presentation of the motorcycles to the Commissioner for Education, Governor Ikpeazu noted that it is the desire of his administration to ensure that all schools in the rural areas are reached out to ensure the overall welfare of the teachers and students as well as the facilities in such schools.

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Okochukwu while describing education as the biggest industry in the state, congratulated the commissioner for Education, Prof Ikechi Mgboji for the giant strides recorded in the sector.

Governor Ikpeazu who recalled that the state topped the West African Examinations Council’s (WAEC) list in results released earlier this year pointed out that the state government will sustain the tempo recorded in the education sector.

He urged that the motorcycles be used for the purpose it is meant for.

The commissioner for Education, Prof. Ikechi Mgboji in his acceptance speech expressed gratitude to the state Governor for empowering the education sector despite all odds and assured that the motorcycles will be put to good use.

Also, some of described the gesture as an encouragement and promised to not to fail in their duties to the state.

The presentation was made at the Government House, Umuahia.
