As the struggle for who pilots the affairs of Abia State continues, supports have continued to pour in for Governor Okezie Ikpeazu especially from the Peoples Democratic Party’s family. The Abia North senatorial district has joined the train after an enlarged meeting of stakeholders in the zone. Also, the Ibeku Consultative Forum has also thrown their weight behind the governor.

Presenting a 6 point communiqué at the end of a closed door meeting held at the Ohafia Local Government Area headquarters, Prof. S.O Igwe said the people of Abia North aligns themselves with the judgement of Justice Lewis Allogah of the Federal High Court in Owerri, which dismissed the suit filed by Friday Nwosu against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu over alleged tax falsification.
According to them, the dismissal vindicates the Governor with regards to tax documents presented to INEC by him.
They described as misconceived, unresearched and ignorance of tax law, the judgement of Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
The body however, expressed absolute loyalty and support for the Okezie Ikpeazu led administration and reaffirmed their faith in the Abia Charter of Equity and the judiciary to do the needful at the appellate court.

In another development, the Ibeku Consultative Forum has dissociated self from the publication in some medium by Uche Akwukwegbu that pledged the support of Abia elders, traditional rulers, and prime ministers to Uche Ogah as the Governor of the state following Justice Abang's court ruling.
Speaking through its leader at a press briefing in Umuahia, Prof. Joshua Ogbonna, the group said the Ibeku Consultative Forum reassures its support, solidarity, and loyalty for the governor.
It noted that Akwukwegbu cannot speak for the entire Ibeku, elders, traditional rulers and prime ministers across the 730 autonomous communities in the state, and called on him to retract the statement.
It however, called on the appellate court to handle the Abia Governorship impasse to ensure peace.

It would be recalled that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja presided over by Justice Okon Abang had in a suit filed by Uche Ogah, ordered that Uche be given Certificate of Return by INEC and sworn in as the Governor of the state.
