Alleged Assault of BCA Staff: Abia Ministry of Information Begins Investigation

Commissioner for Information Abia State says his ministry is investigating the alleged assault on a staff of the Broadcasting corporation of Abia State Emenike Ehisianya by the Secretary to the State Government of Abia State Dr. Eme Okoro.

Comrade Bonnie Iwuoha stated this yesterday on the floor  of the Abia State House of Assembly during the sectoral interactive session with the ministry of Information and Strategy for the purpose of reflecting on the legislative road map of the Abia Sixth House.

The Information boss, who admitted that he is aware of the alleged assault on the said staff last week Wednesday, said his ministry is investigating the matter and pledged that such incident will not repeat itself.

On digitalization of B.C.A according to the directives of the National Broadcasting Commission, Com. Iwuoha said the State government has awarded the contract to a credible firm that will see to the actualization of the project.

Iwuoha who answered questions from members gave a load down of what his ministry has achieved to include: resuscitating Abia printing press, initiating the idea for Commissioners in the State to visit T.V and radio stations in the state to address the public on goings on in government among others, stressed that the problem of his ministry remains funding.

He said he intends to redeem the image of the State media wise but regretted that the economic downturn in the State is an impediment to actualizing this feat just as he appreciated the House for passing a law establishing archives in the State.

On his part,the Speaker Rt. Hon. Martins Azubuike who earlier stated the essence of the interactive session which is to hear from implementors of the laws made by the House, urged the ministry  to make judicious use of the money allocated to the ministry pending the improvement of the State's fortunes.

Our correspondent reports that the members asked probing questions bothering on how to make B.C.A, Abia printing press and Ambassador newspapers live up to its billings while the sectoral debate continues today by 10a.m prompt.
