Wife of Abia State Governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu Pledges Support for Less Privileged in the Society

Wife of the Abia State Governor, Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu has pledged her support for the less privileged in the state, and called on other well meaning Nigerians and corporate bodies to come to the aid of such persons in the society as the government cannot do it alone. Deaconess Ikpeazu stated this when she paid a visit to the Center for Special Education, School for the Blind, Afaraukwu, Umuahia.

To the students of the school, the visit was a reassurance that the government was committed to her Pledge of ensuring they are well taken care off and also a way of showing that they are not neglected in the society. 
The students beamed with smiles and excitement at the sound of the arrival of the wife of the Governor and her entourage. They couldn't hold their joy, hence, the practical display of playlets and songs in honour of Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu.

Mrs. Ikpeazu, who expressed delight at the warmth reception of both the staff and students of the school noted that the challenges facing the school is far to be over, and expressed believe that the intervention of the government will to an extent ameliorate some of the problems.

She commended the Abia State Oil Producing and Development Commission, ASOPADEC, for been diligent partners in progress, private Donor agencies and other well meaning Nigerians for hearkening to the cries of the less privileged. 
She promised to continuously look for ways to help out and be a blessing to just the visually impaired but other less privileged in the state. 
The wife of the Governor, urged the students not to relent but continue to look for ways and opportunities to empower themselves and be strengthened in faith.

Principal of the school, Mrs. Oriala in her address appreciated the wife of the Governor for her efforts at extending her hands of fellowship to the school with the perimeter fencing project, provision of school uniforms, sandals, bags among others.

She described the visit as epoch making because this is the first time since inception that a Governors wife choose to visit.

While enumerating some of the achievements of the school so far, the principal also highlighted some of the challenges confronting the school which ranged from subvention, resource center, school bus, sound proof generating set, food storage facilities, staff quarters and recreation centres.

The students were given lunch by the wife of the Governor, some food items, toiletries and cash donations were also made to the school.  Deaconess Ikpeazu also inspected some ongoing building projects in the school.

She was accompanied on the visit by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Vivian Okochukwu, wives of the speaker and Deputy, Abia State House of Assembly, and other top government functionaries including those from the Ministries of Education and Women Affairs.
