Abia/Imo Hold Joint Security Council Meeting

Abia State Governor, Okezie Ikpeazu and his Imo State counterpart, Rochas Okorocha have condemned in strong terms the spate of kidnapping in the states. 

 


Addressing newsmen after a joint security Council meeting of both States at the Executive Council Chambers of Government House, Umuahia, the Abia State Governor Okezie Ikpeazu said the meeting was to fashion out strategies to battle issues of common interest between both States especially on security. 
Governor Ikpeazu emphasized that the meeting was geared towards ensuring the safety of the southeast and make bold statements about security in the states. 

 


The Governor frowned at the abduction and murder of 5 Fulani and 2 Igbo at the forest between the borders of both States, noting that the forests would be rid of such criminal elements. He added that the era of "launch and hide" attacks by criminals in both States were over.

Governor Ikpeazu further revealed that at the end of the security Council meeting, the security chiefs of both States were mandated to hunt down the criminals wherever they are, and ensure insecurity becomes history in both States. 
The meeting, according to him, also agreed that the Joint Security Council Meeting between the two states will be sustained to make both States the safest in the southeast.

Speaking, the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha said the states would join forces together with their security chiefs to flush out the "witchcrafts of the men of the underworld". 
He condemned in its entirety the rate of kidnapping and violent crimes in both States and assured that the perpetrators of such heinous crimes would not be allowed to go scot free.

 

Governor Okorocha tasked traditional rulers to rise up to their responsibility of fishing out bad eggs in their communities. He lamented that weak borders also contributes to a large extent the to influx of hoodlums to the states.  
The Imo State Governor said the sister states also agreed to purchase the necessary gadgets and equipments needed to ensure the safety of lives and property of citizens, as well as enhance the capacities of the security agents in the discharge of their duties. 
He commended the security agents of both States for their prompt response to emergency situations and diligence to duty, and urged for more commitment.
