The National Assembly has accepted the decision of the Revenue Mobilization Allocation and Fiscal Commission, RMAFC, to review downward the salaries and allowances of its members.

Chairman of RMAFC, Elias Mbam had noted that a new package that reflects cuts renumeration of public service officers would be released in September, while the National Assembly as an arm of public service would be affected by the decision.
He further said that the decision is in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

This means that the House of Representatives will now take home #900,000 monthly, apart from their allowances while the senators will take home something slightly higher.

The House of Representatives in acceptance of the decision said it will improve the confidence of the masses on the lawmakers.

Meanwhile, the National Assembly is currently on a six week annual recess to resume September 29.
