Governor Okezie Ikpeazu inspects Abiriba Ring Road

Abia State Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, on Saturday inspected ongoing construction of Abiriba ring road in Ohafia Local Government Area of the State. The Governor who arrived the construction site unannounced expressed happiness with the quality and speed of work at the road which he promised to ensure is commissioned within his first 100 days in office with street lights and adequate drainage to ensure that the road serves the community for many years.

The Governor was met at the construction site by prominent Abiriba sons including The Enachioken of Abiriba, Eze Kalu Kalu Ogbu, Chief Mba Okoronkwo, Prof Mkpa Agu Mkpa, Chief Odim Otah, Hon Ogbonnaya Odim, Mr John Okiyi Kalu as well as the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Information who accompanied him to see the progress of work. In a brief remark, The Enachioken thanked the Governor on behalf of the Abiriba Kingdom and assured him of the people's support to his government. He also expressed his appreciation to the contractors for employing many Abiriba youths to work at the construction site.

Responding, Governor Okezie assured the people that his government is determined to ensure that Abiriba maintains it's pride of place as the "small London" of Africa. He thanked the Enachioken and his cabinet for maintaining peace in the community and called on all Abiriba sons and daughters to partner with his government to renew Abia state and make it truly the number one state in Nigeria.

Also speaking, the site supervisor of the contractor informed the Governor that the road will be ready on schedule and praised the people of the community for their tremendous support since they commenced the work. He confirmed that the approved design of the road will be followed and delivered with good culverts, gutters and street lighting.


Many of the people of the community who spoke with our reporter expressed their gratitude and appreciation to the Governor for remembering the community within the first 100 days of his administration. According to one of them, Mrs Enyindiya Mba, "this project has given Abiriba people renewed sense of belonging in the State and we pray that God will continue to bless the Governor".

The ring road is expected to traverse all the three major clans that make up the Abiriba Kingdom and ensure smooth movement within the community. Construction work at the site was flagged off on the 11th of July by the Deputy Governor of Abia State, Sir Udo Oko Chukwu.
