The All Progressives Congress (APC) stormed the commercial capital City of Abia state, Aba yesterday with their presidential campaign, in what looked more like a governorship campaign.. There were few supporters of the party from Aba as the venue of the event, Etchie road field was scanty.

Majority of those who made up the crowd, Factnewsonline gathered, came from Imo state, as rented crowd with ith Governor Rochas Okorocha, the Governor of Imo State. It was gathered also that others came from Rivers State with Governor Rotimi Amaechi, who is the Campaign Director-general of the APC.

The event has in attendance the party's Presidential Candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, and it's Abia state Governorship Candidate, Anyim Nyerere. Chris Ngige of Anambra state was also in attendance as well as all Abike Dabiri, former member of the House of Representatives. Many leaders of the party, Senatorial, House of Representatives and state House of Assembly candidates were also in attendance.

In his speech, Buhari highlighted what he felt was Nigeria's challenges. Expectedly, among them was the mention of insecurity, which he promised would be a major issue his administration would tackle if voted into power. Corruption, which his opponents claimed has become the party's anthem, also was not left out in his speech.

When it was his time for him to speak, Abia state Governorship candidate Nyerere made his political promises ranging from quality education to construction of good roads and adequate utilisation of government fund for the benefit of all Abia people.

Our correspondent in an interactive section with Aba residents was made to understand that the people were getting wiser, claiming that they were ready to collect every amount of money offered by the party, but would still vote according to their conscience.

Even though some at the venue came genuinely to support Buhari and his party, a great number of other argued that the kind of change the APC was trumpeting was not the kind of change they wanted. A comrade who refused to give his name which he said was for security purposes, said: "It is only an Igbo person who is foolish that will vote for this Fulani man. As for father Mbaka, he was paid to say what he said. I watched on Television when he lifted Mama Peace’s hand, saying that they are God's chosen and that no force could stop them from ruling.”

He said it was a shame that the man would be swayed from truth because of money, and wondered how much he was given. Another anonymous respondent said he would “vote for Jonathan” on Election Day.
