President Jonathan meets northeast governors,security chiefs on insecurity

Following the insecurity challenges in the Northeastern part of the country and ahead of the February elections,President Goodluck Jonathan has held a closed a closed door meeting with governors of the affected states of Adamawa, Borno and Yobe.

The meeting which was aimed at finding a lasting solution to the insurgency in that part of the country was also attended by security chiefs and some ministers.

All those who spoke with newsmen at the end of the meeting, including Chief of Defence Staff, Alex Badeh and the governors of Borno and Yobe states,were optimistic elections would hold in the troubled areas next month despite the violence, but called for deployment of more troops to the areas, ahead of the elections.
