A hostage-taker stormed a Sidney, Australian café about eight hours ago in what is suspected to be a terror attack and has been holding an undisclosed number of people hostage. Some hours ago, the gunman who is said to be about 40 years old has made two demands. He demanded an Islamic State for Iraq and Levant (ISIL) flag for the release of a hostage, and a telephone conversation with Australian Prime Minister, Tony Abbott.

There has been no word from the Australian authorities as to whether the Prime Minister would be willing to speak with him. However the Prime Minister has described the incident as a disturbing one, saying “our thoughts and prayers go out to the individuals” held hostage by man who calls himself brother.

About two hours ago, five of the hostages – three men and two women – escaped from the café. The Police is currently questing them to get insight into what was going on inside the café.

The hostage-taker calls himself "brother".
